CONSUMERCARE® represents the cooperation of hundreds of healthcare providers working together with Mutual Medical to take the surprise out of charges and allowances not always being the same. CONSUMERCARE® is not a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO). However, Mutual Medical and these doctors and organizations have entered into a cooperation agreement providing that members of plans administered by Mutual Medical will not be responsible for amounts over “reasonable and customary” determinations. Patients are still responsible for any deductibles and co-insurance featured within their Plan, as well as any charges which are not covered benefits of the Plan. For example, if the patient's Plan does not cover dental or chiropractic, then the charges of a dentist or chiropractor are not covered by this agreement. If a specific service is excluded by the Plan, this program does not apply.
